Located just north of Paddington and Bayswater, Maida Vale and Little Venice are much sought after and desirable places to live. The area comes under the London Borough of Westminster whose council tax charges tend to be the lowest of all the surrounding boroughs.
Maida Vale is predominantly made up of turn of the century red brick period properties and mansion blocks although there are some lovely mews properties and in recent year several prestigious newly built luxury portered blocks have been built. The area is mainly made up of professionals and local amenities cater for this market with some lovely restaurants and shops.
Maida Vale has beautiful wide “boulevard like” tree lined streets, many flats in the heart of Maida Vale back onto stunning communal gardens and Paddington Recreation ground is a large park with a running track and sports facilities. The area has an abundance of greenery that adds to the quality of life for all the residents.
Little Venice is named due to the Regents Canal running through the middle. Properties close to the canal and main shopping area of Clifton Gardens are extremely in demand and therefore command higher prices. The area is mainly made up of white stucco fronted buildings, mostly converted into flats although there are still many large period villas. Little Venice has some great shops, al fresco cafes and restaurants, the area also benefits from the local tube station (Warwick Avenue on the Bakerloo Line), easy access to the A40 and a black cab rank adjacent to the station.
These areas are two of London’s hidden gems and make superb places to live.
